The human body

I was so proud of the girls. This week, we weren't feeling the greatest, so we weren't doing lapbooks or anything like that for science or history. We just took it easy and read a lot of library books about the human body. Some of those books included The Magic School Bus: Inside the Human Body, A Drop of Blood, and Your Skin and Mine. The girls seemed to learn a lot. On Thursday, they decided they wanted to trace my body and then draw some things they learned about on the inside of our bodies. They did a great job with absolutely NO HELP from me (except for tracing me)! I was so proud of them. They drew it on a table cloth and wanted to surprise Daddy when he came home from work. The table cloth was put on the table for him to see when he walked in! :) Pictures of their work are below.

Solar System Bracelets

Well, it was that time again - to learn about the solar system, galaxies, how we get our seasons, the moon phases, etc. You can check out our Space Unit that we completed a couple years ago, when we covered space. Meant To Teach: What's out there in space??? Also, here is the solar system we completed a couple of years ago. Meant To Teach: Solar System Complete This time I decided to do something different with the girls. I might add, it was also much easier than our solar system above. I decided to do solar bracelets this time!

Behavior Chart

I found a behavior chart image online that I really liked because it detailed, but I couldn't find a website to print one. So I made my own. I did this in photoshop and if you would like to print one for yourself you can here . After I printed it, I hung it in a picture frame and can use dry erase markers to check off.

Where's the line to see Jesus?

My eight year old has discovered the truth about Santa. "He's not REAL!" is what she keeps arguing with my six year old. This morning, Ashlyn, my youngest and I were up all alone in the house and she came to sit on my lap and just flat out asked me, "Is he real, Mommy?" We didn't want to force this question from her, because we've wanted to let her have her childhood and pretend. Well, when she came up and asked it - I had no choice to tell her the truth. And this is what I told her... "His name was Nicholas, and we call him St. Nicholas, because saint means someone who belongs to God, just like we do. In St. Nicholas' town there were many poor children. They didn't have enough food, clothes, or toys. St. Nicholas used his money to buy food, clothes, and toys for the poor children. He didn't want them to be embarrassed by his gifts, so he gave secretly." "St. Nicholas also told everyone about Jesus and how much God loved
