We made homemade play-dough and it was a huge success. Most recipes call for Cream of Tartar, however, that's not a common item in your cabinet. Our substitute for Cream of Tartar is vinegar or lemon juice.
What you need:
1 cup of flour
1/4 cup of salt
3 tsp. of vinegar or lemon juice (Lemon juice will smell better)
2 tbsp. of oil
1/2 cup of water
Food coloring
First you mix all the dry ingredients, then you whisk in the oil, water, and lemon juice. Keep mixing over low heat until it forms dough. Split the dough and color! We also colored with kool-aid packets to make it smell better, instead of the normal play-dough smell. This is, ofcourse, optional. :)
