January 20th was the Homeschool Spelling Bee. My oldest daughter competed this year for the first time. I really didn't think it would go so well! Some of the words from the list that she had to study, I didn't even know the meaning of. She did great!! She won FIRST PLACE out of her grade level! Some of the words she got right, which surprised me, were beatific and embryo. I certainly didn't know what beatific was, but she just sounded it out! At the end, we were waiting because she came down to a tie with another 3rd grade girl. Her winning word was pyramid. Kylee did awesome! She left with a 1st place medal! This is just an example of another proud mommy moment!
Well, it was that time again - to learn about the solar system, galaxies, how we get our seasons, the moon phases, etc. You can check out our Space Unit that we completed a couple years ago, when we covered space. Meant To Teach: What's out there in space??? Also, here is the solar system we completed a couple of years ago. Meant To Teach: Solar System Complete This time I decided to do something different with the girls. I might add, it was also much easier than our solar system above. I decided to do solar bracelets this time!
